Developed as a site-specific installation for the project space Art3, Valence (FR), Gradient Loop processes impressions of landscape and weather, of seclusion and openness, which were created during an artist residency on site.
In the installation, a multiplicity of equivalent perspectives emerges, created by video, sound and the seating object, while the visitors locate themselves within it.
The exhibition title Always crashing in the same car, borrowed from a David Bowie song, refers to the principle of consistency and repetition. Fragments of abstract landscapes stretch out, pass by or gradually change before reappearing in a next loop, similar to a car ride through different climates.

Als ortsspezifische Installation für den Projektraum Art3, Valence (FR) entwickelt, verarbeitet Gradient Loop Eindrücke von Landschaft und Wetter, von Abgeschlossenheit und Offenheit, die während einer Artist Residency vor Ort entstanden sind.
In der Installation ergibt sich eine Vielzahl an gleichwertigen Perspektiven, die durch Video, Ton und das Sitzobjekt erzeugt werden, während die Besucher sich selbst darin verorten.
Der Ausstellungstitel Always Crashing in the Same Car, der einem David Bowie Song entliehen ist, bezieht sich auf das Prinzip von Beständigkeit und Repetition. Ähnlich einer Autofahrt durch verschiedene Klimazonen spannen sich Fragmente abstrakter Landschaften auf, ziehen vorbei oder verändern sich graduell, bevor sie in einem nächsten Loop erneut auftauchen.
